Gaviscon Peppermint Tablets give fast, soothing and long lasting relief from the pain and discomfort of heartburn (gastric reflux) and indigestion. Gaviscon quickly soothes the burning sensation and helps keep digestive acid in the stomach where it should be.

DIRECTIONS: Adults and children over 12 years: 2-4 tablets. Children 6-12 years: 1-2 tablets. Take as required after meals and before going to bed, up to 4 times a day or as directed. Chew tablets thoroughly before swallowing and follow with water if desired. If symptoms persist see your doctor. 

PRECAUTIONS: Not recommended for children under 6 years. The maximum total daily intake (16 tablets) for adults contains 984mg of sodium (take into account if on a low sodium diet) and 4.1g mannitol. Products containing mannitol may have a laxative effect or cause diarrhoea. Contains Aspartame. Phenylketonurics: contains Phenylalanine.

INGREDIENTS: Each tablet contains - 250mg sodium alginate, 133.5mg sodium bicarbonate and 80mg calcium carbonate.

Gaviscon Peppermint Tablets are a reflux suppressant used to relieve and prevent symptoms of mild to moderate heartburn and acid indigestion. In addition to soothing sore, inflamed tissue in the esophagus, ingredients form a gel-like raft that floats on top of stomach contents, physically preventing additional acid from escaping into the throat.

The chewable tablets can be used as-needed in patients aged 12 and up. They're safe for use while pregnant and breastfeeding. Tablets are free of sugar, gluten, aluminum and artificial coloring.

Gaviscon Peppermint Tablets are effective at relieving a range of symptoms caused by acid indigestion or acid reflux, including:

• Bloating
• Belching
• Flatulence
• Nausea
• Abdominal pain or pressure
• Gurgling or growling stomach
• Acid regurgitation into the throat or mouth
• Acidic taste in mouth
• Burning in the stomach or upper abdomen

The above symptoms can have a range of causes, from tight clothing to medications being taken to various medical conditions. Regardless of the cause, the resulting symptoms are uncomfortable at best and painfully disruptive at worst. Gaviscon Peppermint Tablets quickly relieves these symptoms and prevents them from recurring for around 4 hours following administration.

Directions for use

Gaviscon Peppermint Tablets are typically used as-needed to alleviate symptoms, such as after meals. In severe or chronic cases doctor instructions may vary. In otherwise healthy patients age 12 and up, dosing is typically as follows:

• Take 2 to 4 tablets as-needed, up to 4 times per day.
• Chew tablets thoroughly before swallowing.
• Fluids may be consumed after administration if desired.
• Patients under 12 years should not be given this medication without doctor instruction.

Alternatively, tablets may be taken around 30 minutes prior to an activity that tends to cause symptoms, such as eating a large meal or laying down. In many cases this will prevent symptoms from developing in the first place.

Note that, while everyone experiences heartburn or indigestion now and then, frequent or severe symptoms are often caused by a more serious underlying problem. If symptoms require treatment more than 4 times a day or for more than 7 consecutive days, a doctor should be consulted.

Warnings Before Use

In otherwise healthy patients Gaviscon Peppermint Tablets are extremely unlikely to cause any serious side effects even if taken at doses much higher than recommended. At high doses the medication may cause bloating; if this symptom becomes severe medical attention should be sought.

Unfortunately the medication does carry some risk of complications in individuals who have certain preexisting conditions or are taking certain medications. Check with a doctor before using Gaviscon Peppermint Tablets if:

• On a calcium or sodium restricted diet
• There is a history of heart or kidney disease, or impaired renal function
• Taking other medications

As a general rule other medications should not be taken within 2 hours before or after taking a dose of Gaviscon Peppermint Tablets unless a doctor or pharmacist has verified that no negative interactions are likely.
