TRUSOPT eye drops solution (Dorzolamide) has active ingredients dorzolamide hydrochloride, mannitol, sodium citrate, sodium hydroxide, and benzalkonium chloride as a preservative. It belongs to a group of medicines called “carbonic anhydrase inhibitors.”
Trusopt is a clear, colorless, and nearly odorless slightly viscous solution filed into a white translucent plastic container. Pack sizes include:
TRUSOPT is used to reduce/lower pressure in the eye and also to treat glaucoma. Glaucoma is a condition generally associated with high pressure of fluid in the eye, but some glaucoma patients may have normal eye pressure. Patients may also have increased eye pressure without having glaucoma.
Glaucoma has no symptoms, and if it goes untreated, it is the most common cause of blindness. The only way of diagnosing it is to have their eye specialist or optometrist examine their eye pressure, optic nerve, and visual field. TRUSOPT only helps to keep glaucoma under control, but it does not cure it.
The medicine is administered by applying the liquid to the eyes through a dropper. The patient should not use the container if the plastic safety strip is broken. To use Trusopt, patients should follow these steps:
Like any other medicine, Trusopt can cause side effects, but not everyone is prone to them. The patient should seek immediate medical advice if they experience allergic reactions related to swelling of the tongue, lips, face, or/and throat, which may cause difficulty in breathing and swallowing. Some reported side effects reported with Trusopt during clinical trials or post-marketing experience include:
Most common side effect: (more than one user in 10 affected). Eyes develop a burning sensation.
Common side effects: (1 to 10 users in 100 affected). Temporary blurred vision (superficial punctuate keratitis), itching of the eyes and discharge (conjunctivitis), inflammation of the eyelid, headache, nausea, fatigue, and bitter taste in the tongue.
Uncommon side effects: (1 to 10 users in 1000 affected). Iris inflammation.
Rare side effects: (1 to 10 users in 10000). Feet or hands go numb, fluid accumulation under the retina (choroidal detachment), eye pain, kidney stones, and dizziness.
Patients should inform their doctor of all prescription, nonprescription or herbal products they may be using, including aspirin or related salicylates. Medications known to interact with Trusopt include Dichlorphenamide, diflunisal, magnesium salicylate, methazolamide, salsalate, topiramate, zonisamide.
The patient should read instructions provided by their pharmacist before using Trusopt. The medication is used in the eye(s), usually one drop in the affected eye(s) 3 times a day, or as instructed by their doctor. Before applying, hands should be sanitized, and if using Trusopt alongside another eye drop, they should be spaced 10 minutes apart.
If symptoms do not improve, patients should consult their doctor for alternative medications.
Trusopt should be stored at 15 °C to 30 °C or 59 °F to 86 °F. Store away from light. If the medicine is properly sealed, it can be used until the expiration date.
Whenever patients want to purchase Trusopt, Kiwi Drug’s Online Pharmacy offers the best price and the quickest delivery in the market. Patients can now access affordable and comprehensive digital health services easily accessible from any mobile device or computer.
