Medicines have benefits and some have risks. Always read the label and use only as directed. If symptoms persist or you have side effects see your health professional. Brands and generics both contain the same active ingredient(s) and are medically equivalent. Some brands are marketed under different names by the same manufacturer depending on the country of origin. Images are provided as a reference only, the received medicine may vary in packaging, color, pill shape, etc, from one batch to the next. For an item marked "generic" any quality brand may be sent, however you will always receive the active ingredients ordered in the strength(s) ordered.

Diprolene Ointment (betamethasone, neomycin) is a topical medication used to treat a variety of skin conditions, from insect bites to eczema. It is also known as Betnovate-N.
The medication is only effective in conditions which respond to corticosteroids, and should not be used without explicit doctor approval to treat the face, anus, or genitals.
Diprolene Ointment contains two active ingredients, which are:
Patients should be sure to get the version of Diprolene Ointment matching the prescribed strength; both betamethasone and neomycin content vary between products.
Conditions Treated
Both betamethasone and neomycin can be purchased on their own; both products have an increased variety of uses on their own, but for some conditions the combination is ideal. Those conditions include:
Diprolene Ointment may also be used along with other medications to treat additional conditions.
Corticosteroids like the one found in Diprolene Ointment are steroids; patients should not use steroid-containing medications on the face without explicit doctor approval. When approval is given use should not exceed five consecutive days. It can result in unsightly to painful complications, which really aren't worth the trouble since there are other medications available that are fine for use on the face.
Diprolene Ointment should not be used to treat and may worsen:
Because it is a potent medication the ointment should not be covered with an airtight dressing or tight clothing unless explicitly instructed to do so by a doctor.
Provided instructions are followed, Diprolene Ointment can be used in all patients aged 2 years and up, though some caution is warranted in young and elderly patients.
Using Diprolene Ointment
Diprolene Ointment is easy to use, though there are some precautions to take:
In the vast majority of cases the condition will improve rapidly, and should nearly or fully resolved after one week of treatment. Use should not extend past one week for adults or five days for children without doctor approval, as this can contribute to resistant bacteria and side effects. If at any point during treatment the condition worsens, stop using Diprolene Ointment and consult a doctor.
Again this is a potent medication. Misuse can result in serious side effects, including hormone disruption. There are certainly scenarios in which using the ointment for longer than recommended above or otherwise deviating from general guidelines are advisable, but this should be done only with the guidance of a doctor. Doctors will want to monitor patients, particularly children, closely.
