Cyclophil ME (cyclosporine) is an immunosuppressant medication typically used to alleviate symptoms of overactive immune disorders as well as to help prevent organ rejection following an organ transplant. It may or may not be used with other medications to treat a given condition; always be sure a doctor is aware of, and approves of, taking other medications along with Cyclophil ME.

Be aware that, as with all immunosuppressants, Cyclophil ME can offer great advantages in some scenarios but it is not without risk of very serious---even potentially fatal---complications. This product should not taken frivolously, should not be taken to treat a self-diagnosed condition, and should not be taken without commitment to, and access to, regular medical checkups.

Managing Immune System Disorders

There are many conditions ascribed to an overactive immune system, which is often described as "the body attacking itself". Why an immune system becomes overactive is usually poorly understood, and treating it can be very difficult. Immunosuppressants like Cyclophil ME will not cure the problem, but very often minimizes or eliminates symptoms.

Standard daily dosage for some of the more common immune disorders are given below:

• Psoriasis - 2.5 to 5 mg daily
• Rheumatoid Arthritis - 1.5 to 5 mg daily
• Pyoderma gangrenosum - 2 to 3 mg daily
• Atopic Dermatitis (eczema) - 2.5 to 5 mg daily
• Autoimmune urticaria (hives) - 1 to 3 mg daily
• Keratoconjunctivitis sicca (dry eye syndrome) - 2 drops daily
• Ulcerative colitis (inflammatory bowel disease) - 1 to 4 mg daily

Note that the above contain total daily doses. In most cases the daily dose is divided into two smaller doses, taken twice daily at 12 hour intervals.

Since symptoms of these disorders usually appear only occasionally, and risk of serious side effects increases with length of treatment, Cyclophil ME is usually taken only as-needed during a flare-up rather than taken long-term as a preventative measure.

It is not unusual for dosage strength to be adjusted during treatment, or for additional medications to be given to further ease symptoms. Follow doctor instructions as closely as possible for maximum effectiveness.

Preventing Organ Rejection

When used to prevent organ rejection treatment with Cyclophil ME typically begins shortly prior to surgery. Following surgery, treatment typically continues intravenously while in the hospital, and once sent home treatment continues either in tablet form or via oral solution.

Treatment can vary widely, depending on need, patient response, and personal variables like patient age and weight. Standard treatment guidelines follow, but patients shouldn't be surprised if their own guidelines deviate significantly:

• Take 10 to 15 mg daily, split into two doses
• Take each dose as close to 12 hours apart as possible
• Take a missed dose as soon as remembered

Treatment typically lasts several months, sometimes up to a year. Because the risk of side effects is significantly increased when taken at higher doses and for longer duration, close monitoring is strongly recommended for all patients taking Cyclophil ME.

Precautions During Use

All patients taking Cyclophil ME---or any immunosuppressant---will need to take a number of precautions. Those taking higher doses and/or taking Cyclophil ME for more than a few consecutive days should take greater precautions than those who finish treatment in a few days.

• Try to avoid exposure to anything contagious; even a common cold can result in serious complications while taking an immunosuppressant. Seek medical attention immediately if illness develops.

• Immediately clean even the smallest of wounds thoroughly. Monitor any wounds closely for signs of infection. Seek medical attention immediately if infection does occur.

• Notify all physicians, dentists, and other practitioners of Cyclophil ME use before undergoing any procedures or taking any medications.

• Blood tests should be administered every two weeks to monitor health and ensure the medication is working properly.

• Dental check-ups should be performed every three months during treatment to ensure no infections are present.

• Strictly avoid any other medications, including vaccinations, supplements, and non-prescription drugs, without explicit doctor approval.

• Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice; it may make the medication less effective.

Remember, communication with a healthcare provider and regular checkups are important for maintaining health and good treatment outcomes. Patients unable to commit to or attend such consultations and checkups are poor candidates for this medication.
