Medicines have benefits and some have risks. Always read the label and use only as directed. If symptoms persist or you have side effects see your health professional. Brands and generics both contain the same active ingredient(s) and are medically equivalent. Some brands are marketed under different names by the same manufacturer depending on the country of origin. Images are provided as a reference only, the received medicine may vary in packaging, color, pill shape, etc, from one batch to the next. For an item marked "generic" any quality brand may be sent, however you will always receive the active ingredients ordered in the strength(s) ordered.

Nalcrom (sodium cromoglycate) is a mast cell stabilizer used to treat or prevent a range of allergic reactions, most notably food allergies, but it can be used in a range of other allergies as well. The medication should not be relied on to prevent a life-threatening reaction to food or any other substance.
Nalcrom will have no influence on food intolerances, such as lactose intolerance, which are their own category. There is a lot of uncertainty and crossover, however; it may be unclear if a certain food triggers an intolerant or allergic reaction, while others may do both.
The medication can be used in patients aged 2 and up, though younger patients require modified doses.
How to Take Nalcrom
Nalcrom comes in 100 mg tablets; it is not available in other strengths. It is typically prescribed to prevent allergic reactions in patients who suffer from disruptive, but not life-threatening, reactions to food or other items. For example, the medication may be used to treat:
Symptoms that generally aren't treated with Nalcrom include:
The above symptoms, also known collectively as anaphylaxis, present a serious and life-threatening situation. They typically occur within moments of encountering the allergen, and warrant immediate, emergency medical attention. Patients who are at risk of anaphylaxis are typically prescribed an EpiPen for use in such scenarios; even if an EpiPen is used and the patient seems better, still seek medical attention---the EpiPen will wear off eventually and problems may resume.
Treatment with Nalcrom occurs when the allergen is unavoidable, either because the patient can't avoid it or because the patient doesn't want to avoid it. In the latter case the allergic reactions is typically mild.
Treatment is roughly similar in all uses, but some variance is not unusual:

Potential Side Effects
The most common side effects with Nalcrom are typically mild and not cause for concern. These effects are often transient; speak with a doctor if they become severe enough to be disruptive:
The medication is very unlikely to produce more serious side effects, although, ironically, some individuals will experience an allergic reaction to it. Warning signs include swelling of the face or throat, hives, low blood pressure, weak and/or rapid heartbeat, and hives. An allergic reaction warrants emergency medical attention.
Nalcrom can interact with a range of other medications. Always check with a doctor or pharmacist before mixing treatments while taking Nalcrom.
