Low testosterone levels is thought to be relatively common in male populations, but often undiagnosed due to failure to recognize symptoms, or embarrassment in discussing them.
Causes of reduced testosterone are widely varied and may include multiple factors. In some cases the cause can be identified and cured; in others testosterone replacement will be needed long-term. Either way, AndroGel can help boost levels of the hormone to normal ranges.
Symptoms of Hypogonadism
Testosterone plays a huge role in the development and health of male characteristics, such as a deep voice, facial hair and lean muscle mass. It also effects mood and libido.
More noticeable symptoms of low testosterone levels include:
- Hair loss or reduced growth
- Higher-pitched voice
- Weight gain
- Loss of muscle mass
- Lack of energy
- Apathy, depression
- Mood swings
- Reduced sex drive
- Erectile dysfunction
Restoring Testosterone with AndroGel
AndroGel comes in single-dose sachets containing a gel which holds 5 mg of testosterone. The gel is applied topically to the skin, where the testosterone is absorbed into the bloodstream where it can be utilized by the body.
The vast majority of patients are prescribed 5 mg, or one sachet, daily.
Application is simple, but does require some care:
- Extinguish cigarettes and any nearby flames; AndroGel is flammable until it dries.
- Gently rub the entire contents of one AndroGel sachet into clean, dry skin on the shoulders, upper arms, or abdomen.
- Do not apply to other areas; painful skin irritation may result, particular on mucus membranes or the sensitive skin around genitals.
- Wait several minutes for gel to dry before covering with clothing or allowing it to come into contact with other surfaces.
- Thoroughly wash hands and any surfaces the gel came into contact with. Dispose of sachets and any contaminated materials in a location secure from pets, children, or accidental contact.
- When dry, cover the application site with clothing, and keep it covered until medication is washed off. Small, residual traces of the gel may transfer to other surfaces and then to other people, which may be harmful. Likewise avoid skin contact with any other people or animals while medication is present.
- Wait at least two hours before washing the application site with soap and water, to allow the medication time to be fully absorbed.
- Take care that the clothing used to cover the application site is kept out of contact with other people and pets until washed.
- If others do come into contact with AndroGel, wash immediately with soap and water. If the other person is pregnant or more than a trace amount was handled, seek medical advice.
- Applying more than a single dose can produce harmful side effects; it's helpful to apply AndroGel at the same time each day so dose intervals are evenly spaced.
- A missed dose should be skipped entirely.
Some effects of AndroGel use may be noticable within days, but in most cases it will take a few months of consistent treatment for the body to fully adjust to its new hormone levels.
Preventing Harmful Contact
Because this product is designed to be easily absorbed into the skin, even brief, accidental contact with residual traces can effect others. Of most concern are young children and pregnant women, as testosterone can be extremely disruptive to still-developing bodies.
In adult women who aren't pregnant, contact may still cause unpleasant side effects such as a deepening voice or facial hair. It's critical that extreme care be taken to avoid accidental contact with all members of the household.

Remember that this is 5g of gel, 50mg test/tube... but only 10% absorbtion rate is expected.... Must get labs to determine thyroid function, T levels, etc. FTM

Ok let's understand this- the amount of gel in the tube is 5g. That's five grams of gel that you apply to the skin. Now in that gel is 50mg of testosterone. That's fifty MILLIGRAMS of testosterone whi...ch is the normal dose. I admit the package label is somewhat confusing but this post should clear that up.

I have used Androgel for 30 years and in the states the cost is $450 per month for 2.5G 30 supply. Found this site and dropped the US system. Nothing like getting screwed by the US drug companies. Pa...ck of 30 5GM for $143 is equal to $75 per month for normal prescription. Needless to say I am very pleased!

LowTiyel prescription is for 50mg (testosterone) per day. Why would I want to take 5mg of Testogel - 10X less. Both are applied exactly the same way with the delivery mechanism of topical absorption t...hrough the upper arms and abdomen. Wouldn't I need to take 10 packs per day to get the equivalent amount of testosterone absorption?
