Duac Gel for Moderate Acne Vulgaris

Duac Gel is a topical antibiotic and antibacterial medicine used to treat inflammatory acne vulgaris in people aged 12 and above. It aids in the reduction of acne pimples. However, like other drugs, users may have undesirable side effects such as a burning sensation at the application site and skin dryness. Follow the provider's instructions while applying this lotion for the best results. It comes in two strengths: Duac Once per day gel (5% or 1%) and Duac Once per day gel (3% or 1%).

Note: Do not apply this medication on the skin of youngsters under 12.

What Is Duac Gel, and What Does It Treat?

Duac Gel is a non-prescription medicine for topical use only. Clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide are the active components. Clindamycin is an antibiotic that prevents acne-causing bacteria from multiplying. Benzoyl peroxide reduces Blackheads and whiteheads. It also destroys the germs that cause acne. Duac Gel belongs to the anti-acne preparations family of medicines.

Duac Gel is used to treat acne that is mild to moderate.

How Does This Medication Work?

It works by degrading keratin, a protein that is part of the skin's structure. Applying benzoyl peroxide to the skin causes the top layer of skin cells to break down and shed. It aids in breaking down comedones (black and whiteheads) and unblocking the sebaceous glands.

Similarly, clindamycin reduces bacterial populations and sebaceous gland irritation and helps the skin recover.

It may take two to six weeks of Duac gel therapy to see the full benefit of the gel. It is critical to continue using the gel. If you haven't noticed any improvement after six weeks of usage, consult your doctor.

Directions for Using Duac Gel

Before you begin applying clindamycin/benzoyl peroxide, and each time you obtain a refill, read the Patient Information booklet provided in the package. If you have any concerns, see your doctor or pharmacist.

Before using this medicine, carefully cleanse the afflicted skin with a non-medicated cleanser, rinse with warm water, and pat dry.

As directed by your doctor, apply a thin coating of this medicine to the afflicted regions of the skin. Avoid contact with your eyes, mouth, inside your nose, and any areas of damaged skin. If you accidentally get the gel in these places, thoroughly rinse the surfaces with lots of water.

Once a day (in the evening), apply Duac Gel thinly to the entire afflicted region of skin (not just the individual spots). You’ll find that you have used an inadequate amount if the gel does not easily rub in.

Avoid using the gel on damaged, inflamed, or sunburned skin.

After each usage, wash your hands.

To get the most out of this drug, apply it daily. Use the medication at the same time(s) every day to help you keep track of the application time.

If your condition does not improve or worsens, notify your doctor.

Avoid harsh soaps, shampoos, skin cleansers, hair coloring products or permanent chemicals, hair remover creams or waxes, or skin treatment lotions containing alcohol, astringents, spices, or lime.

Note: In the event you miss a dosage, apply the gel as soon as you recall. If your next scheduled dosage application is near, skip the missing dose. Do not apply excess medication to make up for a missed application.
