Saxenda Storage

Like any other meditation, Saxenda storage is key to maintaining its efficacy as a weight loss meditation. When not in use, Saxenda pens should be refrigerated at 2–8 degrees Celsius and 15 -30 degrees Celsius after use. You can either store Saxenda in the refrigerator or at room temperature. Properly storing Saxenda ensures that the medication remains safe for patients' benefit.

Tips for Properly Storing Saxenda

Saxenda requires safe storage and handling to keep it a safe and effective weight-loss medication. Here are some tips on its storage before and after use:

Before Use 

• Make sure to store Saxenda in the original packaging to protect it from light and heat.
• Place the Saxenda pen in the designated storage compartment in the refrigerator at 15°C to 30°C or 59°F to 86°F, far from other medications.
• Do not store Saxenda near the freezer or ice maker, as freezing can damage the medication. This makes Saxenda less effective and unsafe for use.
• If you need to transport Saxenda, keep it in a cool, insulated container or TSA-approved refrigerator storage to avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures.

After Use

• To keep Saxenda at its best, store it in its original package in a cool, dry place.
• Don't freeze or expose Saxenda to extreme temperatures, which may affect its effectiveness.
• After using a Saxenda pen, there's no need to keep it in a refrigerator. It's okay to store it at room temperature or in the fridge.
• Saxenda is sensitive to heat and light, so keep the pen cap on while you're not using it.
• Keep Saxenda out of reach of children and pets to avoid accidental ingestion.
• If you are traveling with Saxenda, ensure it is in its original container in a secure, temperature-controlled environment.
• Before storing Saxenda after use, remove the needle and dispose of it in a container approved by the FDA.
• Dispose of any unused or expired Saxenda after 30 days. Do not flush it down the toilet or drain.

Note that Saxenda is extremely sensitive to light and heat. As such, it can still go bad even with the best care and storage. Therefore, it would be best if you kept inspecting it before use. If you see that Saxenda, which should be colorless, turns to a different color or has particles, it is contaminated and unsafe for use.
