Metformin for Lifespan
The countless health benefits associated with Metformin as an antidiabetic have led to studies on its effects on lifespan. These studies have also been driven by preclinical studies on animals that were administered the drug.

A review of 53 scientific studies found that Metformin can reduce mortality rates linked with diseases that speed up aging, such as cardiovascular disease and cancer. It mainly focused on Metformin's role in insulin sensitivity, nutrient signaling, immunity, mitochondria, and DNA repair.
Thanks to its insulin-sensitizing capabilities, the drug lowers insulin levels in the body. It also activates AMP-activated kinase, which is associated with anti-aging cellular metabolism. Metformin also prevents signaling through a highly-conserved compound, the mTOR pathway, which promotes growth and nutrient uptake.
The Drug’s Impact on Mortality in Diabetic Patients
Data from several studies suggest that patients with diabetes showed higher survival rates when taking Metformin compared to their non-diabetic counterparts. The data also concluded that non-diabetics have a 15 percent lower chance of surviving than those with diabetes enrolled in the Metformin treatment program.
These numbers imply that Metformin improves mortality rates in diabetics. The drug also puts diabetics at less risk of kidney disease, cardiovascular disease, and cancer.

While several studies support Metformin’s anti-aging properties and benefits, the drug’s power to extend lifespan is still debatable. However, since it can reduce the fatalities caused by various life-threatening diseases, it might extend one’s health span (time spent in good health).

I have been on Metaformin for 4 yrs now and it does help with my type 2 diabetes, its better than taking shots on a regular basis and it Does Help if used on a daily basis
