Metformin, a medication used to lower high blood sugar levels caused by diabetes mellitus, is sold under various brand names. All of these versions of Metformin are categorized as non-sulfonylureas diabetes drugs. This means that they have been designed to help the pancreas make more insulin to lower blood sugar levels.

1. Glumetza

And like all Metformin forms, it needs to be accompanied by dieting and exercises for improved blood sugar levels.

Diaformin is also a great anti-diabetic when it has been difficult to control diabetes with lifestyle changes such as dieting and exercising.

8. Obimet

Doctors usually prescribe Obimet to people with Type 2 diabetes as well as obesity at the same time. Obimet is designed to lower the risks of low blood sugar levels as it helps treat diabetes mellitus and stimulates weight loss. It comes in packs of ten tablets between 500mg and 1000mg sizes. 

9. Diabex

Diabex is among the few anti-diabetic medications that can be used to treat children above the age of 10 years. It’s quite effective at controlling blood sugar levels in the body.

Unlike other forms of Metformin, Diabex can help in the treatment of anovulatory infertility brought by PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome). Its prescription is available in either 500 or 1000mg extended-release forms.
